While planning this upgrade, i learned lot of important factors which i am trying to share through this post.
Upgrade Workflow:
My Target is to upgrade from Red hat based vCD 9.0 using external MS SQL DB to Appliance based vCD 10.0 using Embedded vPostgreSQL DB for which i need to explore the upgrade workflow.
VMware Documentation provides complete information for the workflow to be followed in such scenarios: 
As per the above screenshot, this workflow contains 3 steps:
- Upgrade a vCloud Director Installation from 9.1 to 9.7 on Red hat VM with external MS SQL DB
- Migrating vCloud Director with an External Microsoft SQL Database to vCloud Director Appliance with embedded vPostgreSQL DB.
- Upgrade the vCloud Director Appliance 9.7 to vCloud Director Appliance 10.0

Interoperability:
Ensure that before upgrade the relevant components are compatible like
Database, NSX, vCenter and ESXi host.
some-other if you are using vCloud Availability, vROPs management pack.
