Integration of vRops with VMware log insight!

If an organization is using VMware products like vSphere, NSX, vRA etc there are higher chances vROps is also in place. As vROps solves monitoring and reporting requirement.
There is another product which is kind of an underdog in the VMware portfolio in my opinion named VMware Log Insight but highly useful.

We have both way integration of vROps and Log Insight:

  • Configure the vRealize Log Insight adapter from the vRealize Operations Manager interface, or
  • Configure vRealize Operations Manager in vRealize Log Insight.

This blog is for Administrators who have both products in their environment and will be making troubleshooting bit easy.

P.S: Before moving ahead, Please verify the Interoperability between vROps and Log Insight. For the blog purpose latest versions were used.

Configure the vRealize Log Insight adapter from the vRealize Operations Manager interface:

In vROps 8.0, VMware vRealize Log Insight is part of native Management pack and is activated by default. Hence, the action required is only to configure.

Login to UI page of vROps, https://FQDN_or_IP/UI.
Navigate to Administration -> Management -> Integrations.

All you need now is IP or FQDN of log Insight.
Configure the IP or FQDN and confirm correct configuration by clicking “Test Connection”-> Save.
Navigating to Home -> Troubleshoot-> Using Logs.
Instantly the dashboard will be populated if the log Insight has logs available.
