I was fortunate enough to attend VMworld 2019 Europe @ Barcelona.
Week was full of learning and some nerve racking moments. You will ask nerve racking why?
As I participated in an amazing competition called VMware Odyssey.
In total, there were 24 teams participating, consisting of 3 participants each team. Covering 4 different technologies in 4 rounds like vSphere, vSAN, VDI and vRA.
Each round had 4 tasks to be completed in 30 mins max, better the timing more chances to move to the next round.
Here I was part of a team called STARDUSTERS with amazing talented guys.
1st round was based on vSAN & 2nd round was based on vSphere, who’s collective time was used to select top 12 teams to move to 3rd round.
All the participants were shocked by last task on round 2 – vSphere and yes vSphere.Somehow we managed to squeeze in at 12 position 🙂
3rd round: stakes were higher, final day of VMworld and wanted to go home with New MacBook Pro, oh I forgot 1st place holder team each member was given MacBook Pro and 2nd place holder were given SAMSUNG VR GEAR.
Back to round 3: so this was semi finals and everyone was sure this round will be VDI based, I was confident with VDI. Top 6 teams will be going to finals.
With some dramatic ups and downs in this semi final round, competition leader were getting changed and here were we in FINALs.
Clock was reset for round 3 and round 4 as well.
4th round: 4 tasks with vRA quite tuff. we were surrounded by crowd and pretty much everyone was excited and stressed at the same time.
We managed to secure 3rd spot in finals did not win MacBook but ya had a amazing experience.
In the end, i would like to thank the VMware Odyssey team for arranging such an amazing event.
